wish I was better at describing and analyzing other people’s writing and singing. I would wax poetic about Natalie Cromwell. Her new project, Up To Something, makes me happy. It makes me say to myself, “I’ll just listen to one more,” and then as the last notes of the outtro are fading, I think, “Ok, one more—but I’m definitely stopping after that.” There are moments that are hymn-like and divine, and others that are fresh and quirky and “pop-py.” There are songs that feel like Broadway and others that are simply timeless. Dear Natalie, your voice puts a huge smile on my face. These lyrics make me think without wearing me out. And these songs make me want to corner you in a room and make you promise that you will write a dozen or so with me!
